West Hills Ballet is a new imagination of what ballet and classical dance forms can be about. Our focus is on the joy and community created by dancing together, rather than the competition, while still learning proper alignment and strong technique. We believe that dancing is so innate to the human experience that everyone who feels called should be included and celebrated in the experience. Class time is spent experiencing a journey thru space and time using carefully curated music and storytelling to learn classical ballet and modern dance. It is Miss Marie’s goal that every dancer walk away knowing and loving themselves a bit more after spending time in her classes.
Marie Morrow (Wright) started her teaching career with Cobble Hill Ballet in 2008 under the guidance of Colette Linton Meyer. She performed in NYC for 10 years with modern dance companies like Susan Marshall, Wally Cardona, and danscores by Ofelia Loret DeMola. She had the honor of being a US Arts and Culture envoy to the developing country of Kosovo in 2008. She has taught performance based classes at St Mary’s with a focus on finding individual artistic bravery using acting, singing and movement practices.
Her proudest artistic moments have been in the classroom with a dozen three year olds singing and dancing to classical music. She has taught in the Bay Area with Berkeley Ballet Theatre and Shawl Anderson Dance Center, where she started taking classes herself as a young girl. She worked in the development department of San Francisco Ballet 2014-2015 before moving to the North Bay with her beloved husband and two children Sebastian and Juniper Leigh.
She has a BFA in acting from Purchase College, School of Theatre Arts and Film.
